There are a few things I could write about today, like how Billy and I got lost walking five blocks to the train station in Poughkeepsie yesterday and ended up having to hitch a ride with a stranger because we’d wandered so far out of our way that we evoked her outright pity and compassion.
Or how Billy borrowed my phone on the train and returned it to me in two rather hilarious pieces that somehow miraculously actually worked.
Or my friend Krissy’s wedding, which was the high school reunion I’d avoided last fall.
But today something momentous happened and if I wasn’t so damn tired, I would be running the streets naked in celebration of its momentousness. Today I paid off the last of my credit card debt!
Slowly I am feeling more and more financially stable, and let me just say it is the nicest feeling I have known in my adult life. Not only have I eliminated 100% of my credit card debt for the first time in seven years, but I even have a pretty impressive stash of cash put aside so Billy and I can buy a house in the next few years. So we could, like, barbecue in our own yard whenever we want and stuff.
Of course, I’ve still got about $50,000 in school loans to attack next, but hey. One hurdle at a time.
